  • Whoberley Hall Curriculum Research

We believe that our curriculum should be bespoke to the children and community we serve, while being rooted in current educational research and a strong understanding of how children learn, develop and retain knowledge. We draw on research from cognitive science, educational psychology and evidence-informed practice to continually refine our curriculum and teaching approaches. This ensures that our decisions are purposeful, informed and focused on securing the best possible learning for every child.

Research informs the way we consider how knowledge is acquired, remembered and connected, alongside the importance of retrieval, prior knowledge, vocabulary, practice, feedback and meaningful opportunities to apply learning. We continually reflect on the impact of our approaches, using evidence and professional expertise to strengthen what we do.

Our Whoberley family and wider community are at the heart of our curriculum. As our society and the needs of our children evolve, so too must our curriculum. We respond thoughtfully to the changing experiences, backgrounds, interests and needs of our pupils, ensuring that our curriculum remains inclusive, relevant, ambitious and responsive.

We want every child to develop the knowledge, skills, confidence and curiosity they need to become a lifelong learner. Through an evidence-informed and responsive curriculum, we aim to remove barriers, nurture ambition and empower every child to believe in themselves, achieve their potential and recognise that their possibilities are limitless.
