Admissions Statement

Entry into Reception class

All prospective parents are very welcome to visit Whoberley Hall Primary School and make
an appointment to meet with the a senior leader, who will be able to lead a tour of the school. This can be done by either phoning the school office on 024 76673452 or emailing on whoberleyoffice@whoberleyhall.coventry.sch.uk.

Questions regarding your child’s education may be asked but questions regarding the actual
application for admission need to be directed to Coventry Local Authority Coventry Local
Authority Department (Telephone: 02376831623 Website: www.coventry.gov.uk ) who deal
with the application process. It is the policy of the Local Authority to deal with questions and
issues arising from the process as schools have to remain neutral in this process.

We are a one-form entry school and have one intake each year just shortly after the
beginning of the academic year. Reception pupils are normally admitted to school in the
September following their 4th birthday. The schools current Pupil Admission Number is a
maximum intake of 30 pupils per year group with a total capacity of 210 (excluding Nursery numbers).

Parents are usually asked to complete preference forms in the Autumn of the year before the
child starts school. Places are allocated in the late Spring/early Summer Term
Admissions Department. Following this stage, some parents choose to appeal if their
choices have not been met and again this is dealt with directly by the Local Authority.
We are informed of the exact intake at the same time you are notified and we can then begin
the process of inviting you and your child into school on several occasions in the Summer
Term before the September start to assist this transitional phase. These visits offer
opportunities for parents and their child to meet school staff and become familiar with the
school site and for the children to have a story time session whilst parents attend an
information sharing session.

Entry into Years 1 – Years 6

Parents of older children, moving into the area, are welcome to make an appointment to visit
the school and to discuss admission with a senior leader. As with entry into Reception,
all applications for places are dealt with by Coventry Local Authority Coventry Local
Authority Department who will check to see if there is a place available to be offered in the
school. If confirmed we will then arrange a suitable start date for your child to join Whoberley
Hall Primary School.
