Welcome to Year 6
Happy 50th Birthday Whoberley!
This term our new topic is ’Happy 50th Birthday Whoberley. We are going to be celebrating 50 years of Whoberley Hall Primary school. The children will be finding out information related to the history of the school and how the school has changed over five decades. Children will have the opportunity to examine and investigate the origins of the school through photographic evidence, artefacts and first hand accounts from those people who can share their experiences. We know the children are going to thoroughly enjoy this exciting topic.
Children who still need consolidation in their reading, will be using a mixture of Oxford Reading Tree, Project X and Oxford Reading Treetops. For all other children they will be reading a mixture of library books and appropriate books from home.
In addition some children will also be receiving extra help, to consolidate their phonics knowledge. This is done through small group intervention using Read, Write, Inc.
The children also have access to a Reading Eggs. The children will use this both in school and at home. It allows the children to practice reading, reading comprehension and SPAG all in a fun and exciting setting, where they are able to eggs and spend them on various things.
It will work on both laptops and tablets. If you are using a laptop, then Firefox or Goggle Chrome are the preferred web browsers. Most tablets will support it.
B ooster Classes are taking place EVERY THURSDAY and FRIDAY so remember to bring in all of your booster books children!
